The Cusco Tourist Pass gives you access to many of these sites with a single purchase. Sounds good, right? But is it really worth it? Is it easy to use? Here, I’ll explain everything you need to know before deciding if this pass is for you.

General Information

  • What is the Cusco Comprehensive Tourist Ticket?

The Cusco Tourist Ticket is an official pass that grants entry to several archaeological sites, museums, and cultural centers in Cusco and the Sacred Valley. It facilitates access to the region’s main tourist attractions with a single payment, eliminating the need to purchase separate tickets. It is a personal, non-transferable document and is offered in a full version or in partial options that combine different tours based on the location or type of attraction.

The comprehensive version includes 16 sites and is valid for 10 calendar days, while partial tickets, divided into three circuits, allow entry to a specific group of sites for one or two days. Among the most visited sites are Sacsayhuamán, Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Moray, Tipón, and several museums in the city.

Ticket Purchase

  • Where can I purchase the Comprehensive Tourist Ticket?

Travelers, you can purchase your tickets at three specific locations. To do so, you’ll first need to have your ID and/or passport on hand. This way, you can make your purchase easily and simply:

    • Online: You can do this from our website, where you can also make your reservation by prepaying through the platform (you’ll have the option to choose the date you’d like to use).
    • In person: You can purchase your tickets at COSITUC, the company responsible for providing these services, at 103 El Sol Avenue. This location is very close to Cusco’s Plaza de Armas (dates cannot be selected).
    • During the trip: This option is only valid for travelers taking the Sacred Valley Tour, City Tour, or South Valley Tour. If this applies to you, you can purchase your tickets at the first tourist spots you visit, in case you forgot them (they can be used immediately).
  • What documents are required to purchase the Boleto Turístico Integral?

Traveler, it’s very important to always have your identification documents on hand. If you’re a foreigner, you must have a valid passport. Why? Because when you purchase the Complete Tourist Ticket, these documents will be requested for verification, as well as to correctly record your information on the ticket.

Furthermore, it’s essential that you carry your documents with you throughout your trip, as you may be asked for them at several tourist attractions included in your ticket. If you don’t have them on hand, you may not be admitted to those locations.

Please note! The Cusco Comprehensive Tourist Ticket is the only one that offers special rates for children and students. Therefore, they must also present all their corresponding documents. Students must present a valid and legal university ID, both at the time of purchase and throughout the trip.

Note: Travelers, it’s very important to know that if you purchase this ticket in person, you won’t be able to choose the start date for your use. At the latest, the staff will be able to allow you to use it the following day. Also, keep in mind that the date from which it can be used will be printed on the ticket. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to book it online, where you can choose the date you’ll use the Full Ticket.

Visit Planning

  • How to organize an itinerary using the Comprehensive Tourist Ticket?

Now comes the good part, traveler. If you want to see all the attractions offered by the Cusco Comprehensive Tourist Ticket, you might need around 10 days. However, for many, this option isn’t ideal, as they also plan to visit other popular tourist destinations that, of course, shouldn’t be missed.

A practical way to get organized and make the most of this ticket is to book a travel agency that offers these four tours: City Tour, Maras and Moray, Sacred Valley, and South Valley. Keep in mind that most travel agencies usually include these tours in their packages, which generally last three or more days. This way, you’ll also have time to visit other attractions such as Humantay Lagoon, Rainbow Mountain, and, of course, the most anticipated destination: Machu Picchu.

  • Is it possible to visit all the sites included in the Integral Tourist Ticket?

Yes, it’s possible, but there’s one very important factor you should keep in mind: time. Why? Most travelers usually spend between three and five days on their visit, a period during which they also take advantage of the opportunity to explore popular places, like the ones I mentioned above. Therefore, it would be ideal to stay at least one or two more days.

If you take the tours I recommended, you’ll be able to visit a good number of the sites included in your ticket. However, you’ll still have a few places to visit, which you could easily visit in just one day. To achieve this, it’s best to hire a private transportation service, as there are no regular tours that include these remaining sites.

Important Considerations

  • Can the Comprehensive Tourist Ticket be transferred to another person?

A very important detail to keep in mind is that these tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. So, traveler, before making your purchase, it’s essential that you plan your travel date carefully to make the most of your Cusco All-Inclusive Tourist Ticket.

Please note! If you’re making your purchase in person, you must be present. If you’re traveling with companions, they must also be present and carry their ID or passport.

  • What happens if the Comprehensive Tourist Ticket is lost?

This is a situation you should avoid at all costs. Why? Because if you lose it, you’ll have to buy a new Cusco Tourist Ticket. And beware: there’s no way to obtain duplicates. COSITUC, the company responsible for issuing these tickets, doesn’t have a system that allows you to download or reprint tickets if they’re lost.

And what about travel agencies? In this case, we also can’t generate duplicates if the ticket is lost. On the other hand, if you thought about making a copy of your ticket, you should know that it won’t be accepted. Each ticket is printed on cardstock, not bond paper, and has security features that validate its originality, which can’t be seen on a simple photocopy.

Note: If you choose to book online through our platform, you have a small chance to change your details and transfer the ticket to another person. However, you must do so at least one week in advance.

Practical Tips

  • What is the best time of year to use the Comprehensive Tourist Ticket?

Take note! There’s actually no specific best time to use this ticket. Why? Because the included attractions are not affected by weather conditions, allowing you to visit them 365 days a year.

On the other hand, if you’re wondering about the best time to travel to Cusco, and especially to visit the citadel of Machu Picchu, the dry season is the most recommended. This runs from April to September. Keep in mind that tourist influx increases considerably during this time, so making reservations in advance is key to making sure you don’t miss your trip.

  • Is it necessary to hire a guide to visit the sites included in the Comprehensive Tourist Ticket?

Traveler, something you should keep in mind is that the sites included in this comprehensive Cusco ticket hold stories and mysteries that you shouldn’t miss. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to have a guide when visiting the archaeological sites. As for the included museums, it’s not necessary to hire one, as each has its own guides and informational banners about the exhibits you’ll find.

Regarding the aforementioned tours, travel agencies usually include guided tours in the package, so you won’t miss any of the highlights of each place you visit.
